It’s been more than a year since President Donald Trump took office for his second term. Since last January, he’s had plenty of time to work on those pesky campaign promises, and he’s certainly delivered! Read on for campaign the top five promises Trump has followed through on so far.
- No more foreign wars
Starting off strong. During his campaign, Trump said over 50 times that he would end the Russia-Ukraine war within 24 hours or before taking office. With Russia and Ukraine now living in peace and harmony, it’s clear that this campaign promise was a slam dunk, and Trump will have his own entry in the Guinness Book of World Records for “fastest war stopper.”
You might have heard that we’re at war with Iran. Well, great news! Trump has reassured us that this is just a military operation. Don’t Google “Iran War Live Updates” – nothing will come up, because it’s not a war. I tried, and it just said, “Did You Mean: Thousands of U.S. troops deploy to Middle East on March 27?” Not sure what all that’s about. Anyhow, Trump said that “we’ve won this war.” He really has a way with words. It’s nice to know that if this was a war, we would win. Good thing it’s not!
- Lower gas prices
In November, I was paying a whopping $2.80 per gallon. Now, thanks to Trump, I’m enjoying a cool $4.19. These lower gas prices have enabled me to spend more money on luxuries, like eggs and orange juice. For some reason, gas prices across the country seem to have hit new lows this month! Due to Trump’s masterful diplomacy, it’s safe to assume this is Iran’s way of rewarding us for assassinating their Supreme Leader. Clearly, they needed a glow-up in the Ayatollah department – Trump was happy to help, and he knocked out another campaign promise in the process!
- Lower cost of living
I’m getting ready to graduate, so it’s a huge relief that the cost of living has gone down! So far in 2026, the average rent has risen by 3%. Compared to 2020, rent is 51.6% higher. This is a huge blessing. In 2020, I would have had way too many options to choose from, and I would never have found an apartment in time! Now, I can choose between Closet With Three Roommates and One-Bedroom Apartment With Seven Roommates. With everything going on in my busy life, I’m so glad Trump delivered on this campaign promise to make it easier for me to get my start as a new graduate.
- Slashing the national debt
It’s a relief to know that with the national debt at a historic high of $38.8 trillion and growing by over $7 billion every day, the U.S. is still killing it. We just eked out a spot in the top 10 highest debt-to-GDP ratios, with the national debt being 124% the size of our economy. I’m confident that in a few years, under the sound and strong leadership of Donald Trump, we can get those numbers up to at least 200%, maybe even 300%. If there’s one sign that Trump delivered on a campaign promise, it’s big numbers!
- Bringing back manufacturing
Trump promised that his tariffs would create a boom in manufacturing jobs and investment, and the numbers don’t lie. The manufacturing industry lost over 100,000 jobs in 2025, and investment in manufacturing construction dropped 14%. When he called his tariffs “Liberation Day,” he was actually freeing thousands of people from having to work. (News flash, we don’t dream of labor!) It’s clear that Trump had to purge the manufacturing industry of wokeists by eliminating these jobs and factories, and now, he’s set the stage to bring back American manufacturing better than ever. You’ve heard of “go woke, go broke” – get ready for “go MAGA, make a bag-a!”
